When: Thursday, March 27th 2014 from 6:30 pm to 7:30 pm
Where: Millard North High School – In the Auditorium
Description: Twitter, and social media in general, can be a powerful tool for young people when used responsibly. Unfortunately, many students lack the guidance needed to make appropriate decisions about how to operate in the realm of social media. In order to help students navigate this ever expanding area of life, schools must partner with parents and guardians to model and instruct proper social media use. This one hour workshop is intended to help build that partnership and to equip parents and guardians with the knowledge needed to effectively monitor their student’s activities on Twitter. We will cover the basics: how Twitter works, creating an account, and what the heck is a “hashtag?” We will also discuss common pitfalls, trends we are seeing in school, and tips for monitoring your student. We hope you are able to join us. If you have questions, please contact Casey Lundgren (Assistant Principal at Millard North High School) firstname.lastname@example.org
