MESSAGE FROM THE PRINCIPAL
Welcome to Millard North High School. I hope that you and your family had a safe and relaxing summer vacation.
On behalf of our Millard North staff, we are excited to have the opportunity to work with your son or daughter for the 2009-2010 school year!
We will be conducting our Fall Student Orientation on August 3-5. This orientation is scheduled to provide a time before the school year begins to take care of many details and requirements. Students, please make it a priority to attend Fall Student Orientation.
The first day of school for all freshmen, known as Freshman Stampede, will be Wednesday, August 12 th . This opportunity will allow us to devote a one-day orientation to help incoming freshmen have a positive and successful transition to high school. Upperclassmen will attend school for the first time on Thursday, August 13 th , which will be a full day for all students, grades 9-12. We expect close to 2,500 students when our doors open this fall making Millard North one of the largest high schools in the state of Nebraska.
Once again this year, we will follow three different schedules: one for Mondays when classes begin at 8:45 a.m. and a different schedule, Tuesdays through Fridays, when classes begin at 8:00 a.m. Additionally, we have a different schedule on Fridays when we have our Mustang Time (advisement) between 1 st and 2 nd periods. School will be dismissed at 3:15 p.m. all five school days. Information is included on page three of this newsletter with the school day schedule. Also, a school calendar for the 2009-10 school year for Millard North High School is included.
Please read through the school newsletter and call us if you have any questions or need additional information.
As always, we have several important goals to accomplish with our students. First, we will strive to provide a safe, caring learning environment for each of our students. Second, we will hold the highest academic expectations for our students. Third, we will find ways to enable our students to feel a sense of connectedness to each other, to our staff members, to our activities, and to our school. Finally, we will seek to establish strong ties with our Millard North community including parents and PAYBAC partners.
Feel free to contact me at any time to ask questions, to express concerns, or simply to introduce yourself. Together, we will build on the proud Mustang tradition of academic excellence for our students! Have a wonderful school year.
