40 DEVELOPMENTAL ASSETS CLUB :

This student driven club will focus on developing, promoting and providing the 40 Developmental Assets which are the strengths or building blocks that teens need to grow up healthy, competent and caring. We will do this through fun hands-on activities, service learning projects, team building, etc.

Developmental assets are concrete, common sense, positive experiences and qualities essential to raising young successful people. These assets have the power during the critical developmental years to influence choices that young people make. This student group has two main goals. Their first goal is to educate the student body on what Developmental Assets are and second, they will focus on assets that seem to be lacking or weak in the student body and attempt to rectify these weaknesses.

ASTRONOMY CLUB :

Astronomy Club meets twice a month (before or after school) to discuss current events and work on special projects related to astronomy. Throughout the school year, evening telescope viewings and sky tours may be planned if weather permits.

DEBATE :

Students who participate in Debate become eligible for membership in the National Honorary Society. Millard North has one of the largest National Forensic League chapters in America. Membership is required to participate in National Level Debate tournaments.

DECA :

FORENSICS :

Competitive speech and drama team. Forensics is a class and an extra curricular activity, as students must be enrolled in the class to be part of the team. Participation can lead to membership in the National Forensic League, a national honorary organization. Millard North has one of the largest NFL chapters in the nation.

HISTORY CLUB :

Meets to study a historical time period, place, culture or event. Participate in local activities including, a historical tour of Omaha, visit Durham Western Heritage Museum and historical movie night. As a culminating activity, we visit that area the first week of June. In the past, members have visited Santa Fe, Boston, NYC, New Orleans, and other places. Fundraising is also done to defray the costs involved in the activities.

A division of the Educational Theatre Association, ITS is the honorary theatre organization for students in high school. The ITS offers everything from varied performance venues to college audition opportunities to formal awards and scholarships.

MUSTANG MENTORING PROGRAM (MMP) :

Mentors meet with a small group of freshmen every Monday during Mustang Time. They also meet once a week before school on Monday mornings to prepare for the mentoring times. formerly known as VOCATIONAL INDUSTRIAL CLUBS OF AMERICA (VICA) :

Is an Industrial Technology Club designed to work with students who have an interest in vocational trades.  SkillsUSA will help them to develop team efforts and career goals as well s their social and leadership skills.  The students also work on fundraisers and attend Fall Leadership Conference, Mid America Leadership Conference, and State and possibly National Competitions.
